Summary of Protective Measures

Keep children with any symptoms at home

  • Children with any symptoms, a high temperature, new continuous cough, loss or change to sense of smell or taste should be kept at home
  • If a child becomes unwell at nursery, parents/ carers will be contacted to collect them immediately
  • Staff will wear PPE when caring for a child with symptoms
  • Parents/ carers will be asked to arrange a test for the child
  • If the test is negative the child may return to nursery when feeling better
  • If the test is positive they must isoloate for 5 days including all persons in the household
  • Staff & pupils that have had direct contact with the positive child will also have to isolate for 10 days

Staff who are symptomatic

  • Staff to return to work once symptom free & well enough to return to duties.

Frequent hand cleaning & respiratory hygeine practices

  • Children, staff & essential visitors will wash/ sanitise their hands on arrival, departure & frequently throughout their time in nursery.
  • Tissues are available in all areas & children are encouraged to:
    • CATCH IT - use a tissue to catch your cough or sneeze
    • BIN IT - Dispose of you tissues as soon as possible
    • KILL IT - wash your hands immediately after
